Calidris canutus
These medium-sized sandpipers are found in Washington State only during migration, in transit between their breeding grounds above the Arctic circle and the shoreline where they winter, as far south as southern South America. Visit the mudflats of Grays Harbor for your best chance to see these colorful shorebirds.

Marymoor Park
Puget Trough
The 640-acre Marymoor Park is worth a visit any time of year. Migrating songbirds in the willows and cottonwoods are a possibility now, as are some remaining wintering waterfowl on Lake Sammamish. Regular spring migrants include American Kestrel, Mourning Dove, Pacific-slope Flycatcher, Orange-crowned and Wilson's Warblers, and Western Tanager.
